Why, one might ask, is this called the preview edition?
Eternal Sifu is an experiment in many ways. Readers can expect my art style to change over time on the strip - in fact, that's an intended purpose in production of Eternal Sifu. My eyes degenerated rapidly starting at an early age, so my view of the world hasn't been one that lends itself to clean line artwork. I see more in shades and textures, and my art has always reflected that. In the last couple years I've begun to work with a cleaner line style, and I want to expand that with this serial.
But beyond such production thoughts from my end, I'll also be taking in thoughts from those who read the strip here. Beyond Lam Ching-Ying's fans who visit this site, I'll only be telling a small group of creators and friends about the strip currently. Some months from now I'll debut the series to the general public, but what goes then may be edited or modified from what appears here in the preview edition. This, of course, means that your feedback has the potential for greater impact here. Since I've just gotten back from Christmas holiday, only the strip pages are going up today for the first prolog. After catching up on everything this weekend I'll be adding the introduction and getting things properly prettified, so to speak.
The first prolog is short, only three pages. The second prolog is a fair bit longer - not sure how it breaks down into web pages - twelve perhaps? (I'm working in print page format, then breaking & recombining for easier web viewing). I'll tell you more in the introduction. For now, I'm dead on my feet and am going to sign off so I can get this posted today on Lam Sifu's birthday.
