This is a movie based on an old legend that if the moon is full, stray spirits inhabit banana trees and whoever they see (or whoever that takes notice of them, I can't remember) they would follow for thirty days, or until the next full moon. Lam Ching-Ying is again, surprise surprise, a Taoist priest who runs a rather unsucessful kung-fu school (two old men and a curvy lady) in his flat. His nephew goes on an expedition with a group of curios wanting to see if the legend is actually true (led by Richard Ng), and he finds himself the next day with a beautiful female ghost. At first he finds her a nuisance and tries to make her go away, which of course she was unable to, but soon finds himself falling in love with her. Banana Spirit is yet another clone of A Chinese Ghost Story, except unlike many others it doesn't take itself too seriously. This movie is a lot of fun to watch, with Lam Ching-Ying in a wonderful, humourous role. Go and watch this, if you can. -Cissi-
