Lam Ching-Ying's biggest part in any of Bruce Lee's movies, but still a minor role.

If you strip out the martial arts, and replace Bruce Lee with Jimmy Stewart, you've got the basics for an old Frank Capra classic here. It is, in essence, an old-style Capra morality play, with Lee as the young idealist learning the hard way about the evil that hides in the hearts of some. Lam Ching-Ying plays one of the band of workers in an icehouse that Lee has just started at, a fresh-faced kid with an air of innocence about him. Bruce Lee's first starring vehicle sets him up in the role of people's protector, a la Wong Fei-Hung, much as his later Fist Of Fury role. And like his FOF role, Lee not only espoused his own values, but also showed his hero suffering the repercussions of his heroism. It's good to see "Actions Have Consequences" running both ways. -gg-

This is the film that sent Bruce Lee's star rising, and it's not hard to see why-he is a martial arts master, nothing less. It's a joy watching him bash those goons senseless. About the film itself-it's really nothing more than a typical 70's film with minimal plot. LCY hardly gets a word in here, and looks like an overgrown kid-he looks so adorable. Bruce Lee wasn't happy with this film, and said it was too cartoonish. Well no wonder when people are smashed through walls, leaving behind a perfect imprint of their body! My advice is to skip to the action and ignore the rest. -Cissi-
