A touchingly sad film about Lai Shi, said to be the last eunuch of China. Before I start I must warn you there is another, much inferior film (it really was, it was a shocker) with a similar theme and name, so know what you're looking for! A young boy one day tells his father LCY that he wants to be an eunuch. After thinking for a while his father agrees, since their family is very poor. The castration scene will make you cringe-it's disgusing (and LCY, poor coward, runs away with the job half-done, so the boy sits up finishes it...). When he grows up, Max Mok works in a theature company run by Sammo Hung, but after his girlfriend finds out the awful truth he goes to the palace, in its death throes. It's a great film to watch and Max Mok is a terrific actor. Highly recommended. -Cissi-
